The100 kWh pilot-carbonate-storage in the ‘Speicherhaus’ of the Energie Campus Nürnberg



  • First pilot plant for cyclic calcination and carbonisation (up to 300 kg CaCO3) in one reactor
  • DN 500 fluidized bed reactor with 12 high temperature heatpipes for the heating (up to 35 kWel) and unloading of the storage
  • Controll rod controllable heatpipe steam generator with up to 30 kW steam output/ 35 kW carbonisation performance
  • Flexible plant operation with CO2, N2, air or steam atmosphere at up to 950 °C and atmospheric pressure
  • Two-stage gas inlet with up to 30 m³N/h CO2, 50 m³N/h N2, 30 m³N/h air, 10 kg/h steam
  • Axial and radial arranged multi-thermocouples on two stages for measurements of heat transfer and temperature profiles
  • Optical inlet for thermographic heat transfer measurements
