KinderUni at the Chair of Energy Process Engineering: “Discover the world of green electricity”

Kinderuni am EVT

Agnes Kutz, Stefanie Feilner and Jonas Miederer, representing the Chair of Energy Process Engineering, organised an interactive workshop on 26 April 2025 as part of the KinderUni Nuremberg. The workshop was titled “Discover the world of green electricity”. The young participants were able to learn how electricity is generated from green energy sources such as sun, wind and water and stored efficiently. Using simple models and small experiments, the children got an idea about the principle of green power generation. One of the special highlights was the lemon battery, which could be used to power a light-emitting diode. Another fascinating experiment showed a small energy system that combines the generation of electrical energy with a solar cell and the storage of this energy using an electrolysis unit. But also the bicycle was well received, with which the children were able to convert their own muscle power into electrical energy and use it to operate a small fan.

The KinderUni Nuremberg offers an exciting educational program for children aged eight to twelve. Each year, the program for the following semester is published in February and September. These program includes a variety of interesting workshops, lectures and seminars offered by universities and research institutions.
