From 7th to 10th of April 2026, Sabine Reiß from the Chair of Energy Process Engineering attended the 15th European Conference on Industrial Furnaces and Boilers (INFUB) in Porto, Portugal. The international conference brings together researchers and industry representatives to discuss current developments in the field of industrial combustion and heating technologies.
This year’s event focused on topics such as the decarbonisation of industrial process heat, electrification, hydrogen and ammonia combustion, biomass applications, and CO₂ capture and utilisation.
As part of the ‘Biomass 2’ session, Sabine Reiß presented the latest findings from the BioProcessHeat research project in a talk titled:
‘Air-Steam Gasification of Biomass in a Fluidised Bed Reactor: Application Potential for Industrial Burner Systems’.
Experimental results on the air-steam gasification of biomass in a fluidised bed reactor were presented, along with initial investigations into the subsequent synthesis gas methanation and combustion in FLOX and flame modes.
The conference offered fascinating insights into current developments in climate-neutral industrial heat supply and facilitated an intensive professional exchange with international researchers and industry representatives.
